Never Hurts to be Prepared

 

Hurricane Matthew is hitting Hatti and Jamaica.  According to the Weather Chanel this hurricane is one of the most sever hurricanes in the Atlantic in the last ten years.  There is a possibility that by the end of the week, Matthew could make landfall and cause major problems here in the area. Performance Acura wants to make sure that you’re fully prepared for a hurricane or any other disaster that could occur in the Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh, Cary, and the rest of the Triangle Area.

 

1.     Gather Supplies.  Here is a list of basic supplies to help get you and your family through the first few days.

a.     Water: one gallon per person, per day for at least three days.

b.     Food: at least three-day supply of non-perishable food

c.     Battery-powered radio and a NOAA Weather Radio with extra batteries

d.     Extra batteries

e.     First aid kit

f.      Flashlight

g.     Dust mask to help filter the air

h.     Whistle for help

i.      Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation

j.      Manual can opener

k.     Cell phone with chargers, car charger

l.      Prescription medications and glasses

m.   Pet supplies for your pet

n.     Baby formula and diapers if needed.

o.     Cash

p.     Important family documents (in case you have to evacuate.)

q.     Change of clothes

r.      Blankets for sleeping

s.     Books, games, puzzles, paper w/pencil, and other activities for kids.

2.     Keep a list of local emergency contacts

3.     Ensure your family has an evacuation plan, and a rally point outside the house.

4.     Stay alert to all watches and warnings.

5.     Secure all outside property that could potentially blow away.

6.     Make sure your car is maintained and topped off with gas. (If your car is in need of a checkup schedule one immediately with our service department.)
