Performance Acura wants to make sure that you are informed when it comes to servicing your Acura.  It might still be fall, but winter is coming to the Chapel Hill, Durham, Cary, Raleigh, and the rest of the Triangle Area.  Getting your vehicle ready for winter is a bit more than just getting the oil changed.  Here are some tips to help get your Acura ready for the cold.

1.  Check your heater and defroster.  North Carolina is known for having cold mornings and blazing hot days, so you might already turn the heater on in the mornings.  However, you should check to make sure it works and the air blows.  If not make an appointment with our service department and have it inspected.

2.  Replace all of your filters.  Pollen, dust, and the summer heat can cause your filters not to work properly.  Clean filters will help your engine run more efficiently.  Our Parts Department has every filter that you need.

3.  Replace the windshield wipers.  During the summer your blades are sitting in the blazing sun constantly.  This can cause them to deteriorate and not be effective.  Make sure when you replace your blades, you get the appropriate fit for your vehicle.

4.  Flush the cooling system.  It’s a great idea to replace the cooling system with a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze.  This will ensure the water will not freeze, but also raises the boiling point to prevent overheating.

5.  Consult your Acura Manual.  Consulting the manual is one of the most important tips.  It will explain everything you need to do to get your Acura ready for winter, and keep you on track for scheduled maintenance.  We have Acura certified technicians and service advisors who can answer any questions you have.
