2013 RDX

If you haven't already heard, Acura revealed 3 different prototypes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month the Second Generation RDX, the all-new ILX, and the Second Generation NSX. All three cars received praise, but we feel the RDX is getting a little over looked.
The RDX provides style comfort and luxury for a very reasonable price. The 2013 RDX is a crossover and even though Acura claims that it is just a prototype, we know better. Since this is a new generation, you can always expect big changes especially with engine and the vehicle's performance. The biggest change that the RDX is facing is that Acura decided to take out the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in favor of Honda's respected 3.5-liter V6.
Horsepower will jump from 240 to 273, and despite the addition of two more cylinders to feed, fuel economy will also increase significantly. The best the current RDX can muster is an EPA-rated 19 miles per gallon in the city and 24 highway, while the V6-powered 2013 model is projected to achieve 20 city and 28 highway. Aiding that new-found efficiency is a six-speed automatic transmission (one more gear than before) with a lock-up torque converter.
The previous RDX did not seem to fit in with the Acura brand and other models so Acura decided to make it look a little more like an Acura. The new 2013 RDX now looks more like the MDX which is a step in the right direction. Its wheelbase is longer and track wider. This means that the RDX will be able to provide a more comfortable and luxurious ride. Acura will also fit the new RDX with what it calls Amplitude Reactive Dampers to keep the handling suitably tuned to its level of power at any point in time that the RDX needs to have that little oomph.
